When I was new in Seo,my seniors told me about www.dmoz.org,I read and find out what importance its link carries for google.
But,sooner I realized that they have very tough criteria for selection.I read all the guidelines and submit my website into dmoz,but nothing happens for 6 months again I submit nothing happens.
I do not give importance to dmoz as such now,since most of my sites are in google without submission to dmoz, but still I would like to know how can we get approved in dmoz.If any Seo knows about then please tell me.I am ready to learn.Please comment on my blog.

What is Directory
A directory is a website containing lots of categories such as travel, shopping,health,books etc.Each category contain website related to itself.For example travel websites will be placed in travel directory,health category will be placed in health category,shopping sites in shopping category like that.
What is the difference between search engines and directories?
When you type something on google or any other search engine,it returns result of a single web page of a website,while directory list website according to its theme under a suitable category (for example travel sites in travel category).
Another difference is search engine has programs robots and spiders which crawl the website pages and store it in their database,while each directory has its own selection criteria and if any website fills it criteria they list the website.
To increase the traffic directories also provide search facility not as strong as google to enhance the number of visitors visiting them,

Directory Submission
I first came to know about SEO in 2005,when I got my first job,My main job was to submit a website with different anchor text and descriptions in various directories.
I love doing directory submission,though some SEO are saying that it is non beneficial but in my case it has proved to be beneficial.
Directory submission has become my passion so much that I have launched a website to help all SEO to find directories.
